The vibrant and ceremonial elements of India are intricately woven along the banks of the Ganges (Ganga) River. Originating from the Himalayas and meandering eastward to eventually merge into the Bay of Bengal, this sacred river draws an immense number of pilgrims who come to take a simple dip or to scatter the ashes of their departed loved ones. The riverbanks are imbued with profound religious, cultural, and traditional significance. The Ganges Tour, spanning 8 days and 7 nights, encompasses the key destinations along the river and its tributaries. While primarily a spiritual journey, it possesses a magnetic appeal for tourists as well, as it immerses all in the aura of the Ganges.
The tour commences in Delhi. Upon your arrival, you proceed to check in at the hotel for an overnight stay.
On the 2nd day, your itinerary is dedicated to local sightseeing. After breakfast, you set out to explore Delhi, the historic Mughal capital adorned with numerous forts and mosques scattered across the city. Your visit to Old Delhi reveals the vibrant markets of Chandni Chowk, situated just behind one of the country’s largest and most renowned mosques. You also pay a visit to Raj Ghat, the final resting place of Mahatma Gandhi. Among the other city attractions are the Red Fort, India Gate, Parliament House, Qutub Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, and more. In the evening, you return to your hotel to unwind and prepare for the night.
After enjoying your breakfast, you make preparations for your journey to Mathura, which is conveniently located near Delhi and takes approximately 3 hours to reach. Mathura stands as one of the primary pilgrimage destinations for devotees of Lord Krishna, as it is renowned as the birthplace of the Lord. Upon your arrival in Mathura, you proceed to check in at the hotel before embarking on a city tour. Mathura boasts numerous temples, each holding its unique significance. Among them, some are particularly well-known, such as the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi temple, situated at the very site of Lord Krishna’s birth. The Vishram Ghat is where the Lord rested after his triumph over the tyrant, and another prominent temple is the Dwarkadheesh temple, which serves as a focal point for devotees during festivals. In the evening, you return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Following breakfast, you will proceed to Agra, a journey that takes approximately 1.5 hours. Once in Agra, your sightseeing adventure begins. The foremost attraction in Agra is the Taj Mahal, celebrated as one of the seven wonders of the world. Additionally, you’ll explore the massive and awe-inspiring Agra Fort, as well as the intricately crafted tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah. In the evening, you will make your way to the station to board the Express Train bound for Allahabad, embarking on an overnight journey.
Upon your arrival in the morning at Allahabad, the staff will escort you to your hotel. Breakfast will be served, and following that, your exploration of Allahabad begins. Your itinerary includes a visit to the Sangam, the sacred confluence where the River Ganges, River Yamuna, and the mythological Saraswati merge. Subsequently, you will explore the Allahabad Fort, the Ashoka Pillar, and several temples and ghats.
After lunch, you will proceed to Varanasi, a journey that takes approximately 4 hours. Upon reaching Varanasi, you will check in at the hotel and have a leisurely evening to relax. Your overnight stay will be at the hotel.
Upon waking, you will embark on a tranquil and mystical boat ride on the Ganges. This experience is both serene and captivating as you witness people offering their prayers and taking holy dips in the river. Later in the day, you will embark on a city tour, visiting significant sites such as the Bharat Mata Temple, Vishwanath Temple, the university, and more. Your overnight accommodation will be at the hotel.
Following breakfast, you will embark on a journey to Sarnath, a significant site for Buddhists. It is in Sarnath that Lord Buddha delivered his teachings to his disciples. The key attractions in this area are predominantly Buddhist temples and stupas, including the Dhamekha Stupa, the Archaeological Museum, and the Chaukhandi Stupa. In the afternoon, you can take some time to rest, and in the evening, you will depart for Delhi by train, beginning an overnight journey.
Upon your arrival in Delhi in the morning, you will complete the check-in process at the hotel. The entire day is dedicated to your relaxation and leisure within the comfort of the hotel. Later in the evening, arrangements will be made to transport you to your respective airports and train stations, marking the conclusion of this enchanting and extensive journey along the Ganges.
