Varanasi, often regarded as a holy sanctuary, is a place where people come either to take their final breaths or to cleanse their souls of sins. This city is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva and holds profound religious significance. Thousands of pilgrims and tourists visit Varanasi every year. International travelers are drawn to Varanasi to witness the rituals and practices of the faithful. Varanasi is seen as one of the gateways to heaven, where Lord Shiva is believed to guide individuals toward “amaratva,” or immortal life.
Varanasi boasts numerous ghats to explore and a calendar filled with vibrant festivals. At the confluence of the sacred Ganga and Yamuna rivers lies Allahabad, another captivating destination. The point where these two rivers meet is known as Sangam, attracting people from all over the world, especially during the famous Kumbh Mela, one of India’s largest religious gatherings. Additionally, Allahabad is home to the historic Allahabad Fort, constructed by the Mughal emperor Akbar. Sadly, the fort is now under the control of the military, with only a limited area accessible to visitors.
